Aaron Gordon's Return to the Dunk Contest
A Look Back at His Electrifying 2016 Performance
The 2016 Slam Dunk Contest was one of the most memorable in NBA history, thanks in large part to the incredible performances of Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon. Gordon, then a member of the Orlando Magic, put on a show that night, showcasing his athleticism and creativity with a series of amazing dunks.
Gordon's first dunk was a two-handed windmill off a bounce pass from his teammate, Elfrid Payton. He followed that up with a reverse 360-degree dunk over a prone teammate. For his third dunk, Gordon jumped over the Magic's mascot, Stuff the Magic Dragon, and threw down a one-handed dunk. He finished his performance with a between-the-legs dunk that was so impressive that it earned him a perfect score from the judges.
Gordon's performance was so good that it helped him to finish second in the contest, behind only LaVine. It also helped to make him one of the most popular players in the NBA. Gordon has since become a regular participant in the dunk contest, and he is always one of the favorites to win. He is sure to put on another show when he returns to the contest this year.
