Khyree Jackson, NFL Draft Pick, Dies in Car Crash
Three young men, including NFL draft pick Khyree Jackson, were killed in a car crash in Oklahoma early Saturday morning.
Jackson, 24 and two of his former high school teammates, 23-year-old Dwane Simmons and 23-year-old AJ Jimmerson, died when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on State Highway 9 near Davenport, Oklahoma, the patrol said. Jackson was driving the vehicle, and Simmons and Jimmerson were passengers. All three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Jackson was a cornerback who was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Oregon and Fort Scott Community College.
Simmons was a wide receiver who played college football at the University of Central Oklahoma. Jimmerson was a defensive back who played college football at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
